Selfie Love for Valentine’s Likes

 

I don’t just make cool graphics for paying clients. Sometimes, I test things to see how they’ll play.  On Valentines Day, I tested these two images.  The one on the left was used on my very active, personal accounts and the one on the right was used in my IntimiDATER alter-ego/character accounts.  Both got a lot of attention.

First, original pictures are a great magnet for social attention.  Second, a bit of humor always works.  For the IntimiDATER, it is appropriate for the brand to be little edgy, but not over the top.  For my personal page, the better fit is a bit of self deprecation through the faux arrogant shtick.  That’s kind of my sense of humor.  I also talk a bit about self development, so this image worked perfectly for those venues.  You may remember the post “I Know I’m Not Perfect“, as another example.

The takeaways?  Well, I’d suggest using original graphics when you can and use them in a way that showcases your personality or the vibe of your brand.  Humor gets you engagement and some shares, too.

I took these images with my Lumia 950 Windows Mobile phone.  For the “Love Yourself More” photo on the left, I used a tripod with a phone mount.  You can find lots of those, either universal or specific for your phone on Amazon.com.  For the one on the right, it’s just my left arm outstretched to get the shot!
