Valentines Thoughts

1518549255238

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and of course, I have thoughts:

1. Am I the only one who thinks the 15th is the REAL holiday? Savings on chocolate is just the beginning. I bought a couple of those steaks that they put into the heart shaped containers. DEAL!

I’m Most Thankful For YOU!

WP_20151127_391

I wanted to take a bit of time this weekend to point out that I’m thankful for…wait for it…YOU! Yeah, you. I’m not going to embarrass you by naming names because you know who you are. You’re reading this for a reason! By the way, thanks for reading and being so Facebook-supportive. It means a lot.

I know a lot of people, but you’re one of a kind. You know how you do the stuff that you do? Awesome. Then there are the things that you say. Amazing. When we get together, you’re literally present. You can be so cool…except when you’re not. Remember that one time, when you did that thing? Sooooo, typical you! I think my favorite thing about you is your self-esteem. Some people would assume that I’m talking about someone else, but you clearly know what’s up. I wish more people were like that.

Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment during this Thanksgiving weekend to say THANK YOU to you and only you, for being you! That’s it! Oh, and don’t rub this in everyone’s face. They’ll get jealous and stuff, which is why I don’t usually play favorites.

No Hookups and Other Online Dating Farcicalities

WP_20140307_6843

Online dating can be a productive and efficient way of meeting a collection of like minded matches suitable for consideration of a long term romantic relationship.  Yeah, it can also be a hysterical farce of a show.  See the guy picture to the left? Yeah, I use that picture in my profiles because it shows off the side of my personality that is “harmless” as a couple of my friend like to point out.  Here I’m using harmless to showcase myself in a vulnerable and adorable state…in bed.  This is a vision and a location that I’d like potential matches to consider seeing me in.  Sweet and adorable and the distracting contrast of using cold technology to portray a warm and fuzzy moment.  Brilliant…I know.  Trust me, another side of my personality influences things. We call him the IntimiDATER.  Go ahead and “Like” him on Facebook.  Do it now before I show you what he thinks that innocent looking picture communicates to the ladies.

10 Random Thoughts

JD Ponders Randomly

Sometimes I have random thoughts. By sometimes, I mean most of the time. These random thoughts would seem just…kind of…sorta…crazy, if put them out there, with no context.  I could Tweet them individually or write a series of Facebook status updates, but that might cause my friends to stage an intervention.  I usually opt to keep them to myself, but today I felt like sharing.

I decided to list ten of these random thoughts because ten seems like the least random number that I could come up with, for a list. There are always Top 10 lists for doing things or ranking things.  So a list of random thoughts with a perfectly normal number seemed about right

OK, enough chatter…on with the list!

Selfies w/ Lumia Series

WP_20140307_6843

If you’ve been paying attention to any of my social media channels this past week, you’ve probably noticed a theme.  I’ve been taking selfies using the Lumia 1020, of my and my Lumia 920.  The 920 display shows a picture that is always the “prop” .  I always used language as though each image was showing an “app” that should be available for Windows Phone.

It all started with this picture of me sleeping with a “teddy bear”, that I entered into a selfie w/ phone contest run by www.winphan.net.  Alas, the contest was a random drawing and not for having a creative, well-executed shot.  I didn’t win, but I got inspired take more.  Let’s see what I came up with!

My PureView of the Hollywood Sign Hike

WP_20140117_13_55_33_Pro

Last week, I was in Portland and the change of scenery was great, but you gotta come home, right?  My friend John reminded me that we often forget how interesting the place we live can be.  With that being said, I decided to share one of my favorite hikes in Los Angeles.

In my pursuit of entertainment fame and fortune…or just the ability to pay my bills by doing what I love…I sometimes need perspective.  It’s the kind of perspective that tells you that your awesome even when you can’t get a meeting or a referral or an audition.  Yes, perspective feeds the ego and shuts out negative talk because OBVIOUSLY “they” are the one’s missing out.

OK, enough of that (for now).  Let’s get to the hike.  Every picture was taken with the Nokia Lumia 1020.  Most were taken with the Nokia Camera app, but some were taken with Fhotolens and 4Blend HDR apps.  Finally there are some panorama shots taken with the Nokia Panorama app.  I’d like to say that this was a sponsored piece.  Seriously, Microsoft, Nokia, etc…I’d LOVE to say that this is a sponsored piece.  How ‘bout it?

Yes, there’s the hike.  The picture above is on Beachwood Drive which takes you to the trailhead.   Much like going to the movies or watching TV, the sign reminds you of your destination for the entire journey.  Keep reading past the break to experience the journey with me.

Single Resolutions – 2014 Updated

WP_20140102_11_02_57_Pro

A lot of you guys are still single and frankly, I don’t need the competition.  We need to get some of you pair bonded, post-haste.  I’m not sure if you paid attention when I dropped the Top 10 Single Resolutions for the 2011 New Year’s season, but go ahead and catch up because ALL 11 of those Top 10, still apply.  I’ve just added a few to the mix.

Before we get to that, let’s talk about resolutions or whatever you want to call them: visions, intentions, plans…they’re all the same thing.  Anyway, why do we constantly set ourselves up for failure?  Throw in a few gimmes and you’ll feel better about yourself.  I resolve not to make people feel guilty about the fact that they aren’t running a marathon, so I will refrain from running a marathon this year. DONE.  I resolve to support the good people who own and work at micro-breweries. COUNT ON IT.   I resolve to do my part in solving state problems. For example, prison over-crowding is a problem and I resolve to prevent my temper from adding another number to the system. PERFECT.

OK, let’s jump into these additions to the list of single resolutions!

A Nokia Lumia and JD Walk Into A Mall

12_14_2013_jpg

This blog will be random-palooza.  I’ve got pictures and JD observations to share.  It will (hopefully) be funny and (hopefully) make you think and (probably) further cement my relationship status on “SINGLE”.

What it won’t be is complaining about how crowded and crazy my trip to the mall was.  The Westfield Century Plaza was by all accounts, very pleasant this morning.  I drove in and parked pretty close to the escalator and I was in the shopping zone before I knew it.

The music was holiday theme’d, but modern and lovely.  There were no crazies, no yelling, no desperate shoppers ruining the experience for everyone.  What there were, were painted deer sculptures.  Seriously.  Stay tuned for that because you KNOW I have pictures.

Lumia 1020 on Roids

APict Logo

This modern piece of photographic genius is capable of taking amazing pictures.  I was thinking that there had to be more. With the fad of InstaGrime, it appears that “more” is actually “less” and retro.

I took the plunge and put the Lumia on ‘roid…as in Polaroid.  Obviously, this was via an app and this app is called APict.

Let’s dig in and see a couple of examples.
