DalyDose of…Santa Monica Beach Shoot
5:00 am. For those of you who have never been awake at that time, it is also known as 5:00, in the morning and sometimes called “the crack of dawn”. How do I let my roommate talk me into such things??
The alarm goes off – annoyed.
I get my stuff together in a rush of time – stressed.
I labor down the stairs to wait – tired.
I don’t expect any sympathy from anyone. I mean, we were headed to the Santa Monica to shoot fun, sexy pictures of these girls, on the beach.
PROBLEM!!!! There was no sun at sunrise or I imagine most of the day. Was it “partly cloudy” or just a “marine layer”? I don’t know, but I do know it wasn’t a picturesque scene. It’s OK though, I’m a ‘glass is half full’ kinda guy. This cloud cover was going to provide soft light for headshots and we’ll see what we can do with the beach/swimsuit shots.
I used a 50mm lens. There are more expensive options, but this one actually does well in low light and does really well for headshot. My roommate loaded up a big ‘ole lens and we both shot both girls.
The shoot went better than I thought it would and I think the girls will have some shots to choose from.
After a couple of hours of swapping girls and taking pictures of the experience with my roommate, we all went to Denny’s and had breakfast. (That’s what we call a marketable tagline for an otherwise ordinary event)
